In Depression-era Mississippi, three convicts Ulysses (George Clooney), Pete (John Turturro) and Delmar (Tim Blake Nelson) escape a chain gang, and set off in search of buried treasure. Along the way, they get mixed up with a bank robber, a one-eyed Bible salesman, and the KKK, among other historical and fictional figures.
