José (Eusebio Poncela) is struggling to finish a low-budget horror movie, when he returns home to find a tape left by Pedro (Will More), an eccentric former acquaintance who is now a successful avant-garde director in Madrid. Pedro reveals something sinister that happens each night as he records himself sleeping. The tape triggers José to follow Pedro down his own destructive path.

Lluís Escribano, Ramón Massa, Enric Benz, Cesc Pérez and Alfons de Sierra were Els 5Ks (The Five Penises), a Catalonian queer filmmaking collective that made almost thirty films during the transition, following Franco's death in 1975. Their campy and fun narratives also worked on a deep ideological level. They focused on anti-heroes like the bourgeois man who boasts of his heterosexuality before being sodomized in a public bathroom, and the priest who steals from his church to hire male escorts. But their legacy goes beyond their films and their outrageous personalities.

Ambitious high schooler Tracy (Reese Witherspoon) is determined to win the election for student body class president. Straitlaced civics teacher Jim (Matthew Broderick) doesn't trust Tracy, and encourages popular football player Paul (Chris Klein) to run against her. As the campaign gets dirty, Jim finds himself locked in a power struggle with Tracy.
