During WW2, cynical American expat Rick (Humphrey Bogart) runs a posh nightclub in Vichy-controlled Casablanca. Rick's old flame Ilsa (Ingrid Bergman) comes to the bar, seeking safe passage for her husband Viktor (Paul Henreid), a fugitive Czech resistance leader. As their romance rekindles, the Nazis draw closer, forcing Rick and Ilsa to choose between love and duty.
