Centered around a dinner party on a Roman terrace, La Terrazza follows the personal crises of a group of wealthy middle-aged friends, including screenwriter, journalist, film producer, TV executive, and politician who have forgotten the battles of their glorious youth and grown apart from their loved ones. Through the stories of these successful yet defeated men, Ettore Scola captures the wider crises of the country at the beginning of the 80s, manifested in its stagnant film industry and its disillusioned political class.

DOWNTOWN 81 follows a day in the life of Jean, a struggling young graffiti artist. After being evicted from his apartment, Jean hustles to sell some art and search for a mysterious woman, having a number of strange encounters along the way. Shot in 1981, this marvelous film captures the wild spirit of NYC's Lower East Side before its creativity was snuffed out by gentrification.

The trilogy is a fascinating exploration of cinematic storytelling and the shifting lines between documentary and fiction.
